Our Residential
Program provides an alternative to prison as well as a
transition from prison to the community. Residents are
funded through per diems from Pennsylvania Department of
Corrections, Bureau of Community Corrections. Residents must
contribute 25% of their income from employment to room and
board.
From
a Former Resident:
"Finally, after 10 years of off and on
active addiction, I landed in a state penitentiary.
When I came to Atkins House, I had been in prison
for a year ... I learned how to stay sober at Atkins
House and I continue to come to Atkins House for
support and counseling and love." -- MT |
Our Treatment
Center also serves outpatients and provides the
various counseling and skill development programs necessary for our
residents, women ex-offenders in the community and women
incarcerated in York County Prison, to recover.
The outpatient
treatment programs are funded through York/Adams Drug and
Alcohol Programs, foundation grants and individual
contributions.
From
a Former Outpatient Client:
"I couldn't make it clean and sober, keep my
job and take care of my children if it weren't for
the support I get in my counseling sessions and the
help my children and I get in our joint sessions
with (our mother/child counselor)." -- PH |
Individual
contributions and foundation grants also fund our Lifeskills
program.
From
"Chance to Change" Prison Lifeskills
Program Participants:
"I am so glad of this program and I am
really trying to do the best I can to better myself
and also to try to help others." -- AK
"This
truly is a Chance to Change and peel away the
unwanted skin and waste in our lives." --
